Early data from an ongoing observational study suggest that tacrolimus is safe. This is bases on a study of 1,779 patients from the USA, Germany, Ireland, and UK. The median age of 4 years at the time of first tacrolimus exposure and 6 years at the study enrollment.
Twenty four percent of the study population were first exposed to tacrolimus before 24 months old, contrary to the package insert.
Tacrolimus is used in the management of atopic dermatitis or eczema.
