Ovide (Malathion) 0.5% new Lice Medication
Taro Pharma, the maker of Ovide, said that Ovide is the only pediculicide with no documented resistance in the Unites States. This is an organophosphate agent which acts as a lice killer by inhibiting cholenesterase activity.
This is a prescription medication that can be used if the over the counter products are not killing the lice.
Caution: it is flammable.
Malathion has been shown to be irritating to the skin and scalp.
