Avoid Over The Counter Cold (OTC) Medicines
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) News of January 2007, over the counter decongestants are not effective in children and should be avoided.
Dr. Ian Paul of the AAP said that there are little published data to support the use of OTC decongestants in children including phenylephrine.
All OTC containing pseudoepherine decongestants are now stacked behind pharmacy counters and should be signed for in a logbook.
