Health Alert

The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends that children and adolescents eat two servings of fish or shellfish per week. Children can benefit from fish because of their high omega-3 fatty acid which is good for both the heart and the brain.

Fish that are low in mercury are catfish, canned light tuna, pollack, salmon and shrimp.

The FDA do not recommend pregnant women to eat fish that has high in mercury like mackerel, shark, swordfish, and tilefish.

AHA Scientific Statement published in Circulation, 2005, pages 2061-2075.
