Ribbon and Mobile Experiment
[Caution: when you are doing this experiment you should not leave your baby alone with the ribbon attach to your baby or near her. There is a possible danger of accidents.]
With this experiment, your baby will learn that she can make things happen.
Get a red ribbon about half an inch wide and 18 to 24 inches long.
Tie it around the right wrist loosely and connect the other end to a mobile above in such a way that if she move her wrist up or down by about 1 to 2 inches, the mobile will move or make a sound at the some time. Let her do this activity for several minutes.
Then remove the ribbon attachment. Observe what she will do. You’ll notice that she will move the right wrist and stop moving it soon because the mobile is not doing anything this time.
Now attach the same ribbon on the left wrist to the mobile as you did with the right wrist. She will learn again to move the mobile above.
Then detach the ribbon from the left wrist and observe.
Now, attach the ribbon on her right ankle. Let her move the mobile above for several minutes.
Remove it from the right ankle. Observe.
Then attach it to the left ankle.
