Making Magic Moment
At least once or twice a day, you will catch your baby when she is willing and eager to play with you and explore everything around her. These could last just for a few minutes or at times up to 20 minutes. Catch these magic moments and use it to the fullest. Engage her with full attention and animated conversation or activities. Observe her facial expression and read her body language and mirror it. If she make happy noises, repeat her sounds and noises followed by a big smile or loud laugh.
As your baby grows older, you’ll have longer and more magic moments with her. Whenever this happens, make these time a priority over your dishes or washing machine or the telephone. Security and loving intimacy will grow between you and your baby because of your interest and responsiveness to her emotional and physical needs.
If you have a full time job and leave your baby to a sitter, make enough time before going to work and soon after work to create magic moments with your baby. About 20 to 30 minutes twice a day of quality floor time might be enough for her to cement a happy, trusting relationship. You should set your alarm clock in the morning at an earlier time so you can give her enough attention before going to your office.
Upon returning from your office, your baby might be aloof or fuzzy for a while. Take your time and be patient. You should relax and take everything in stride. Turn off the television and do not answer your telephone. Hug her and cuddle her. Woo her by doing her favorite things that makes her smile or laugh. Create a magic moment before she goes to bed.
