Screening questions to screen autistic or child who might have serious behavioral problems.

1. Can your child use her or his index finger to point to ask for something, or to indicate interest in an object?

2. Can you child appropriately play with small toys (cars, trucks, blocks, et) without mouthing or dropping?

3. Can your child bring objects to you to show something?

4. Can your child do pretend play?

5. Does you child show interest in other children?

What to observe:

1. Observe if the your child can make eye contact with you.

2. Get the child’s interest and point across the room and comment: “Oh look! There’s a car (or name of toy).

3. Ask “Where is the light?”

4. Can the child stock a tower of blocks?

A child who can’t do most of the above activities has a high chance of being autistic, has a hearing, or has an emotional problem.
