Four to Six Months Old

At about this period, your baby's world expands widely and rapidly. In the past couple of months, your baby's vision is limited to about a few feet from her eyes, now she could see all over the room and outside through the window.

At six months old, your baby has reached a great milestone.  Her vision, hearing, and motor development has advanced considerably to accommodate more learning and socialization in the second half of the first year.

The period between four to six months is more fun for both you and your baby.  She will smile, laugh, and giggle more frequently to the delight of every one in the family and friends. Everything is a game for her and through the repetitive games she plays, she is learning that her behavior causes predictable responses and reactions from the people around her.   This major milestone affects every stages of her development, especially her socialization.

She will repeatedly drop a toy on the floor, knowing that you will pick them up.  She will swipe on a mobile several times knowing that it will make a sound. And when you enter her bedroom, she will vocalize to entice to play with her.

She is learning fast that she can be an active participant in her world, not just a passive observer she was just several week past.

As her memory expand, she can recall patterns of movements that people she played with and soon she will start those games. You will find one day, that she will cover her face with a towel for you to start "peekaboo."

As you attend to her cues predictably, she will learn to trust.  And with trust the foundation for a great psycho-social development is greatly enhanced.

And the joy of learning grows only in the mind of babies who are socially and emotionally adjusted.  Without socialization, fast, efficient learning and cognitive development will be greatly impaired.
