You know your baby is “falling in love” with you when she is doing the following activities. This could happen between 2 to 4 months old. The earlier this occur, the “smarter” the baby would be.
Responding to your smile with her own happy one.
Acting comforted, calm, and relaxed when you hold and rock her.
Starts interaction with you with big smiles and happy looks.
Makes sounds (cooing, uh, uh) when you make similar sound when you are about ten to twelve inches from her.
Makes cooing and other sounds when she is held, touched, spoken to, or smiled at.
Looking at your face with deep and prolonged interest.
Focusing at your face longer than 30 seconds.
Anticipating with excitement the reappearance of your voice or face.
Looking worried when you withdraw in the middle of play or interaction with her.
When these activities are promoted and sustained, your baby will develop a happy attitude which is the foundation of early attachment with the primary caregiver. This is also the foundation of a future intelligent child.
