If your child had a fainting spell, these are the questions you should be prepared to answer. These are some of the good questions that a physician would want to know about:
- Age of patient
- Time of the day when syncope happened
- Time of last meal
- Details of activities preceding the spell
- Position of patient: sitting-recumbent or standing
- Is there warning before the syncope e.g. palpitation, tachycardia, chest pain, headache, dyspnea, nausea, sweating, visual or hearing changes.
- Duration of loss of consciousness
- Is there injuries that resulted from the fainting
- Is there history of undiagnosed prolonged fever or Kawasaki
- Past history of heart surgery
Your child’s physician will appreciate a lot if you print these question with your answers and bring it during the visit.
With these questions, your physician will have an easier time of figuring out the diagnosis.
Keep a copy of this in your computer for future reference.
