Baby Body Language (BBL)

Bryan is a 14-month-old boy. He was at my office this week for routine check up and immunization. During this visit I was able to witness his advanced Baby Body Language skill. In front of me, his mother requested him to do the following BBL: help, all-done, drink, brush, thank-you, cough, please, and more. He did it!! (At home mother said Bryan can do the BBL for “bad” and “bath” also.)

I showed Bryan my magic vase-and-ball. After I pretended to place the magic black ball on his left ear, he made the BBL  for “more,” which is bringing both hands with all fingers touching each other on its tip in the midline from about ten inches from his chest. He did the “more” BBL several times each time I made the black ball disappear in front of him. He did a “thank-you” BBL after my magic show.

His mother started Baby Body Language (BBL) when he was eight months old. I recommended it to her and demonstrated simple  “more” and “drink.”
