If your child has been Limping please print and answer these questions before seeing your clinician:
1. Since when did the child start limping?
2. How did it start? Was it sudden or gradual? (Check if limping is first episode, intermittent or progressive)
3. Was there a history of trauma, falls or strenuous activities? (Rule out fracture or simple muscle strain)
4. In which leg does the child limp?
5. Is there pain with limping? (Septic arthritis, osteomyelitis, injury)
6. As the child had similar problems before?
7. Is there swelling, redness, immobility, deformity in the joints? Check for systemic involvement
8. Is there pain or swelling in the back, hips or in the extremities? Acute Rheumatic fever has migratory polyarthritis. Check for other involved joints
9. Is there fever? Fever may accompany infection, fracture, rheumatologic conditions
10. Are there other associated signs or symptoms like rashes, abdominal disturbance, easy bruisability or any neurologic symptoms?
You child's clinician might ask more questions depending on your answers.
