Concept of three

From about 12 inches from your child’s eyes, bring up your right index, middle, and fourth finger pointing up with the back of your hand facing you.

Say, “Three.”

With your left index finger point at the tip of your right index finger and say, “One.” Pause for about two seconds.

Then point at the tip of your right middle finger and say, “Two.” Pause for two seconds.

Point at the tip of the fourth finger and say, “Three.”

Make a circular motion with your left index finger over the three fingers and say, “All of them are three.” This is a body language teaching your child that the last number mentioned, three, is the cardinal number that represents the group.

Reverse the count from the fourth finger to the index finger saying, “One, two, three” and make again the circular motion over the three fingers and say, “All of them are three.”

Rotate your right hand making the palm side facing you.

Point and count with your left index finger from the fourth, middle, and index finger saying, “One, two, three” and making the circular motion over the three fingers saying, “All of them are three.”

Repeat this activity as often as possible.
