Coutning by two
Get 10 single plug purple Mega Bloks. Arrange it in 5 groups of two's. Each group is aligned horizontally with about one fourth inch space between them. Between each group should be a space of about three inches. Now you have 5 groups or sets of 10 purple Mega Bloks horizontally arrange.
Count each group, "One, two" "One, two" to show your toddler that all of the groups or set have two members each. Then count and point from the left side at each group by saying, "Two, four, six, eight, ten." Go back and count by group from the right, "Two, four, six, eight, ten."
Write on a white square paper about two by two inches the numeral numbers: 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10. Place the numeral number 2 under the first group, 4 under the second group, etc. Then count by two's again with your index finger pointing between the purple Mega Bloks and the white square paper with the numeral number 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10.
Say, "Two plus two" equals "Four." Move the second group of Mega Bloks to the left about one fourth of an inch from the right edge of the first group. Now from the view of your toddler there will be "four" Mega Bloks. Count it individually and say, "One, two, three, four" and get the white paper with the numeral number "4" and say, "Four."
Repeat and say, "Two plus two" are "Four." When you say the first "Two" lift the first group of "two" about an inch down, and say, "Plus two" lift the second group of "two" an inch down in line with the first group and say, "Four." Then show again the numeral number "4" on the white paper.
Continue the same method and do "Four plus two" to make "six." Then do "Six plus two" and "Eight plus two."
