Baby Logic Basic

At an early age of 6 months old, we can teach babies the basic of logic using Lego or Mega Bloks or Lego.

Place your baby on the floor on her belly. From about six inches from her, place a RED block. Point and say, ‘RED.” Get a GREEN block. Place it near the RED one with about an inch space between the two. Point and say, “GREEN.”

Repeat this activity of pointing and saying, “RED, GREEN, RED, GREEN”

Then get one more RED and one more GREEN blocks. Now you have two REDs and two GREENs. Place them in a horizontal line, RED, GREEN, RED, GREEN. Point and say the RED, GREEN blocks.

Get another set of RED & GREEN blocks and place it in line with the rest of the four blocks. Now you have three REDs and three GREENs alternately in a horizontal line.

Repeat pointing and saying the RED and GREEN blocks at least four times a day for about a week.

After a week, get another set of RED and GREEN blocks and place it about six inches from the horizontal line of 6 RED and GREEN blocks alternately.

Now say, “We will get the RED and place it to the right of the GREEN block.” And do the actual placement of the RED block next to the GREEN one.

Then get the GREEN and place it next to the RED one. Repeat the same sequence.

By repeating this kind of activity you are showing your baby the basic of patterning or sequencing. This is an early form of baby logic.
