Alexa
Dear Dr. Leo
You had asked us at Alexa's 4 year visit if I would keep you updated on her math/intellectual development. She is now able to count to 200 by 5's and can keep going if she is in the mood with just a bit of help. She can tell time on a face clock quite well and she has a good understanding of money, knows all the coins and bills and can usually give someone the right amount of money. She really likes money, so we play games if we have to wait somewhere. The other night while we were waiting to get our food at a restaurant I gave her all the cash I had about 47.00 and had her give different amounts to her dad and grandma and then take amounts back. She also knows 5 pennies =1 nickel 2 nickels= 1dime. etc. She also gets sequencing. I found her typing this pattern out on the computer the other day, 1A2BB3CCC4DDDD5FFFFF on through H then she stopped because she had made a mistake and she was very upset. She is also reading well. She is in a preschool setting We are having her work with a kindergarten teacher twice a week to keep her stimulated, they do reading and math.(she works at the preschool) She is beyond most of what they do in class. Lexi also asks complex questions on many different subjects from the planets to bugs or how the body works and often astounds me with her observations.
