Lindsey, a very smart 2 year old
Lindsey was at my office on for her 2 year checkup. Her mother put Lego blocks on her right hand: white, blue, orange, red, yellow, and green. The father then requested Lindsay to get the white block, and she got it right. Then he asked for the green block, she got it, and gave to her father. Lindsay was able to identify orange, yellow, and red.
Her father drew the following shapes, about one inch tall, on the table paper of the examining room: triangle, square, oblong, circle, quarter moon, rectangle, and a star. Lindsay was able to say and identify all of the shapes, except the oblong.
Her mother found a small plastic boat, with the Lego and Mega Bloks, on a toy container. She took it and asked Lindsey, "What is this?" Without hesitation, she said clearly, "Boat."
Then her father drew a circle, about two inches in diameter, onto the examining table paper. He requested Lindsay to put the eyes in. Dutifully, Lindsay drew two small circles inside the big circle that her dad drew. She held the ball point pen in her right hand perfectly, just like any adult would do while writing.
