When your child is vomiting Questions to answer before the office visit 1. Since when did the child started to vomit? 2. How frequent? (When was the last urination?) 3. What is the character of the vomit? (Bloody, bilous, watery, digested food, fecal matter) 4. Is the vomiting projectile? ( Rule out conditions of abdominal obstruction or increased cerebral pressure) 5. Are there other associated symptoms? Fever, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache, lethargy, etc. 6. Is the child able to hold on to solid food or fluids? Is he able to feed? 7. Is the child drowsy and less active? 8. Was there something new that was fed to the child? (Rule out food allergy or poisoning) 9. Is there someone in the family, school, neighbor with similar abdominal problem? (Rule out food poisoning or infection.) 10. Was there an accident or injury to the child’s head or abdomen? (Rule out head or abdominal injury)
